Schlossgut Diel is one of Germany’s most celebrated estates, located in the Nahe region and led by acclaimed winemaker Caroline Diel. The family winery dates back more than 200 years and has earned international recognition for its precision-driven wines that balance elegance, freshness, and site expression. While the estate is widely known for world-class Riesling, Caroline Diel has also become highly respected for her sparkling wine program, bringing Champagne-level attention to detail to German Sekt production.
The vineyards benefit from steep slopes, mineral-rich soils, and a cool climate that preserves acidity and aromatic complexity—ideal conditions for sparkling wine. “Pinot de Diel” is crafted using the traditional method, the same labor-intensive process used in Champagne, where secondary fermentation occurs in bottle followed by extended lees aging.
By focusing on Pinot varieties, the wine gains both texture and depth while maintaining the lift and precision that define the estate’s style. Caroline Diel’s approach emphasizes finesse over weight, resulting in a sparkling wine that feels refined, energetic, and beautifully structured. It’s an excellent example of why Germany’s top sparkling wines are gaining increasing international attention.
