Established in 1961 by Joe and Alice Heitz, the estate played a monumental role in elevating Napa Valley to world-class status. Joe Heitz pioneered the concept of single-vineyard designated wines in California, famously putting "Martha’s Vineyard" on the label and introducing a style defined by vibrant acidity, lower alcohol, and unparalleled aging potential. Unlike many modern Napa producers who chase rich, oak-heavy extractions, Heitz has stubbornly and beautifully preserved its classic, Old World signature—relying on extended aging in large, neutral oak vats rather than new French barriques.

The Heitz Cellar "Lot C-91" Cabernet Sauvignon is a masterful liquid tribute to this legacy. The story begins in 1969 when Joe Heitz created a highly sought-after, experimental blend called Lot C-91. Though it was a one-off release, the estate revived the moniker decades later to represent the pinnacle of their blending expertise. Today’s Lot C-91 is a cuvée crafted from Napa’s most prestigious nested appellations, combining organically grown fruit from estate vineyards in Rutherford, Oakville, Howell Mountain, and St. Helena.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0409/8165/9808/files/2019HeitzCellarLotC-91Cabernet_NapaValley_California.png?v=1792007646
