Washington resident Danielle Kartes has made a name for herself with her book series turned online recipe encyclopedia, Rustic Joyful Food and her next passion project was to create a wine label. French for Water is made from estate grown grapes of Evergreen Family Wiens on the Wahluke Slope, known for its well draining gravel soils and hot climate. The carbonation method is a fresh take on the process, capturing the CO2 during the fermentation process and reintroducing it once it’s been bottled. A sustainable practice that is known as Methode Contemporaine, this has no sugar added, is completely vegan, made by an all female winemaking team and is pretty perfect for a summer afternoon.
A candied nose, with dried cranberry and vanilla cream. The palate is soft and refreshing with strawberries, a note of freshly peeled citrus, a clean finish with a hint of plum skin.
