Stéphane Tissot grew up on his parents’ Jura wine estate where some of his first memories were cleaning wine barrels. André and Mireille, Stéphane’s parents, started the domaine in 1962 making the classic Jura cuvees still seen as rustic oddballs by much of the world. It was Stéphane who became a driving force behind the dramatic resurgence of Jura wines with his first vintage at the age of 19 and his precise work in the cellar, he was immediately recognized by his peers. He soon adopted rigorous, low-intervention techniques, and the domaine was certified organic in 1999, one of the first in Jura, and biodynamic in 2004. His energy and discipline has surely helped transform the Jura from a vinous backwater into one of the world’s most exciting wine regions.
The 'DD' is Stéphane's homage to his father, Andre, when Tissot reds were more typical Jura blends. The 'DD' combines Poulsard, Trousseau, and Pinot Noir in equal measure. An extremely long and gentle maceration process imparts a tender yet robust structure with broad tannins, a delightful and unexpected texture for such a light wine. It is lively and joyous with bright cherry, raspberry, and crunchy plum, with a fierce minerality.
