Domaine des Terres Dorées is the estate of Jean-Paul Brun, one of the most influential and independent-minded producers in southern Beaujolais. Brun began the domaine in 1979 with only a few hectares near the village of Charnay and gradually expanded while maintaining his focus on traditional, expressive wines. The estate takes its name from the golden limestone that gives the Pierres Dorées area its distinctive landscape and architecture. Although Brun is best known for Gamay, he also produces Chardonnay that reflects the limestone-rich soils of the region.
“Charme” is a Blanc de Blancs Crémant de Bourgogne made entirely from Chardonnay. Crémant follows the traditional method, meaning the wine’s secondary fermentation takes place inside the bottle just as it does in Champagne. Extended aging on the lees develops fine bubbles, gentle creaminess, and flavors reminiscent of bread and toasted nuts. The Extra Brut designation indicates a very low dosage, leaving the wine especially dry and allowing its acidity and mineral character to remain clear. It is a precise, energetic sparkler that combines Burgundy’s Chardonnay tradition with the honest, unembellished style for which Jean-Paul Brun is admired.
