80% Pinot Meunier, 20% Chardonnay

Ripe apple, pear, lemon, dried fruit, honey, and delicate pastry notes. Fine bubbles carry a rounded, generous palate toward a fresh, mineral finish.

Champagne Pinot-Chevauchet is a tiny grower estate led by Didier Chevauchet and Brigitte Pinot in Moussy, just south of Épernay. The family works approximately 3.7 hectares divided among 27 small vineyard parcels in Moussy and the Premier Cru village of Pierry. This area, known as the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay, lies between the Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs and combines clay-marl soils with deep layers of chalk. Pinot Meunier performs especially well in the clay-rich vineyards around Moussy, developing ripe orchard fruit while maintaining freshness and mineral lift. Chardonnay from nearby Pierry adds citrus, structure, and finesse to the blend. Didier began moving the estate toward organic farming while building a reserve-wine program designed to add depth and consistency across vintages. “Joyeuse,” meaning joyful, is assembled from both current-vintage and reserve wines and spends several years aging on its lees. That extended cellar time develops pastry and honeyed complexity while preserving the lively character of the fruit. Produced in remarkably small quantities, this is a grower Champagne that offers a direct connection to the family, vineyards, and lesser-known hills south of Épernay.
