In the northeastern corner of Croatia, right below the border with Hungary in Croatia’s Danube region, lies Slavonija: one of Croatia’s most important winegrowing regions. This region has a legacy of wine making that goes back to the 13th century when Cistercian monks settled the area. In this historic place, the winery Feravino continues this tradition by focusing on the region's most important varietal, Graševina. Graševina is Welschriesling, which has nothing to do with Rhine Riesling (i.e., the Riesling we all know from Germany, Austria, and Alsace). Instead, Welschriesling makes crisp, straightforward, thirst-quenching white wines. And that's exactly what this is.
The SoHu wines were created to offer a fresh and expressive style of this Slavonijan indigenous varietal that everyone can enjoy. The name SoHu (South of Hungary) is an ode to the cross-cultural influence this region embraces in Croatia near the border of Hungary.
