The name Rajat Parr has become synonymous with excellent craft and impeccable taste. Parr’s journey has brought him around the globe, across the fine dining world, and eventually and perhaps most notably into the world of wine production. His partnerships and solo projects in Sandhi, Evening Land Vineyards, Domaine de la Cote, and Phelan Farm have resulted in some of the most respected wines in the domestic market. Since 2020 he has taken a bit of a step back from his old front-facing roles to focus on farming and developing his own systems of natural winemaking. In that time he also began making wines under the ‘Brij’ name: negociant wines from trusted vineyards that are a bit more accessible and no less impressive. The ‘Brij’ wines are an excellent example of the variety, possibilities, and skill that are coming out of this small, often overlooked region of California.
Fresh, bright and smooth, this Central Coast Albariño drinks like it came straight from Rias Biaxas. The nose is aromatic with tropical notes and a hint of ripe banana. Flavors of juicy pineapple and citrus zest, mingle with salty sea breeze minerality. The palate has excellent texture with a medium-light weight. It’s just summer in a bottle.
