Notes of lychee, guava, orange peel, and a touch of herbal tea. Slightly hazy with gentle fizz, mild grip, and a dry finish.
Le Fief Noir is a 30 hectare estate in the middle of the Anjou Noir, near Angers, in the municipality of Saint-Lambert du Lattay. The Anjou Noir is a unique wine-growing area at the eastern end of the Armorican massif and the north-west of Anjou.
The region is named for the black schist stones which composed its mineral-dense subsoil that formed 30 million years ago. The high number of fissures in the rock allow vines to develop deep roots. This unique soil is ideal for Chenin Blanc, giving it an ideal richness here, balanced with bright minerality, and acidity. Dominique and Alexis work organically and all the vineyard work and harvest is conducted manually. This Chenin is direct-pressed into stainless steel & fermented with indigenous yeasts before lees-aging in the tank with weekly stirring.
