Domaine Franck Peillot is a small estate in Montagnieu, within the Bugey region of eastern France. Bugey sits between Burgundy, Jura, Savoie, and the Rhône, yet it has a personality all its own: alpine freshness, limestone soils, and a mix of grape varieties rarely seen together elsewhere. Franck Peillot, now working with Théo Bonnard, farms a small estate sustainably and is known for careful, traditional wines with a strong regional identity. Pinot Noir is relatively rare in Bugey, making this bottling especially interesting. Peillot’s Pinot comes from a small parcel planted to Pinot Droit, an old Champagne clone that can ripen in cooler, more challenging conditions. The grapes are hand-harvested, fermented with native yeasts, and aged in tank rather than wood to preserve freshness and purity. The wine is light in color, aromatic, and quietly structured, offering Pinot Noir with an alpine accent.
Cherry, cranberry, red currant, rose, fresh herbs, and a subtle earthy note. Light-bodied with bright acidity, delicate tannins, and a clean, mineral-tinged finish.
