In 1890, the Lacoste family purchased a modest estate of just a few hectares of land located in the Barsac-Sauternes appellation. Winemaker Hervé Dubourdieu’s great-grandfather made the estate into a successful winery and cooperage. Over the generations, the family purchased Château Graville-Lacoste, an AOC Graves estate located in Pujols-sur-Ciron and Château Ducasse, a small estate located in Barsac. With each expansion, the family focused on making delicious dry white Bordeaux wines. Hervé and his wife Sabine took over the family business in 1983. They’ve spent the last 40+ years fine-tuning techniques passed on by their ancestors, while modernizing production facilities.
Hervé's Graves Blanc has a fairly high proportion of Sémillon, rounded out with Sauvignon Blanc and a bit of Muscadelle - providing texture and aromatic richness. The vines for Graves Blanc are around 45-48 years old. Hervé uses sustainable “lutte raisonnée” (reasoned struggle) farming practices, and vinification takes place in stainless steel or similarly neutral vessels to preserve freshness. The wine shows honeysuckle, lychee, lemon zest and fresh cut grass. The palate is dry, crisp, and mineral-driven, with a lively acidity that keeps things bright. Dry crisp and bright with a clean finish, lingering citrus and a little herbal lift.
