100% Agiorgitiko
Inviting bouquet of tart raspberries, blackberries, and sour cherries, layered with unique hints of pomegranate and prickly pear. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and remarkably smooth, boasting soft tannins and a refreshing finish.
Monograph Agiorgitiko is a vibrant expression of Greece’s most celebrated indigenous red grape, crafted by the highly acclaimed Gaia Wines. Established in 1994 by agronomist Leon Karatsalos and winemaker Yiannis Paraskevopoulos, Gaia Wines operates two cutting-edge wineries located in Santorini and Nemea. The winery's core philosophy centers on exploring and elevating native Greek varietals using modern viticultural practices. With the Monograph series, Gaia delivers approachable, fruit-forward wines that offer exceptional value without sacrificing regional authenticity.
The grapes for Monograph Agiorgitiko are sourced from semi-mountainous vineyards nestled in the hills surrounding Nemea, within the Peloponnese region. Cultivated at altitudes between 450 and 550 meters, the vines thrive in well-drained, shallow clay soils over limestone. This elevated terroir provides a crucial diurnal temperature swing, allowing the Agiorgitiko grapes to develop intense aromatic profiles while maintaining a crisp, refreshing acidity. Unlike heavily oaked traditional Nemean reds, Monograph is vinified entirely in stainless steel tanks. This deliberate choice keeps the fruit profile pure and unadorned.
