Georges Roumier is without a doubt one of the greats of the Burgundy wine world. While the domain began by selling their wine off, the practice eventually led to bottling the wines on site. This practice was a little ahead of its time, as most domaines didn’t typically do both. Current generation Christophe Roumier says it best with this quote: "We don’t make Pinot Noir; we make wines from terroir which expresses itself through Pinot Noir." The family has holdings in several villages throughout both the Cote de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Of all the Burgundy domaines, Roumier is consistently among the most elegant and complex.
This fruit comes from two different plots in the village of Chambolle-Musigny, both of which are Premier Cru level. This is a scenario where the fruit is of very good quality, though blending the two sites together allows them to shine even brighter than on their own.
