Sarah couldn’t stop raving about this wine when she tried it. As fall approaches, the weather calls for a wine that’s made for sipping. Multi generations of women! Danielle Meunier, the fourth generation in her family to take over the estate, retired last year in her mid 80s and her grand niece took over. Organically farmed, manual harvest, low and slow fermentation with native yeast in cement, and aged in mostly old wood. Meticulous care, dedication, and organization allows Haut-Segottes to make stunning wine year-in and year-out. Meunier has never been afraid of Cabernet Franc. Maybe it’s because one of her vineyards is so close to Cheval Blanc, but whatever the reason, her flagship wine is over 50% Cab Franc. Gravel and iron rich soil work together to give aromatics of subtle complexity.
Beautifully complex with wonderful depth of fruit and woody spice. Classic Bordeaux with dusty earth and freshness, green herbs, lifted floral aromas, and red/black fruits. Exceptionally age worthy.
