Centopassi is a cooperative which is part of the Libera Terra movement, who work with confiscated mafia land, making lawful work for locals with better pay and benefits, whilst rejuvenating the land into sustainable agriculture and most importantly a corruption free environment. Named after a true story based on the political activist who opposed the Sicilian Mafia, ‘I Cento Passi’ means 100 steps, representing the distance between protagonist Peppino Impastato and that of the house of renowned mafia boss Tano Badalamenti.
Located on the less trendy side of the island near Palermo, most grapes come from vineyards on the Belice Corleonese plateau, this Sicilian red blend is full of bright blackberry character with hints of black plum and peppered spice. There is a roasted nut & balsamic note that accompanies the fruit that gives way to well-integrated tannins and a smooth, lingering finish.
