Barnard Griffin is truly a mom-and-pop operation. The Griffin Family has been making wine in the Columbia Valley region for 40 years now and have been blessed to source their fruit from some of the best vineyards in the area. Their goal has always been to show the world what the vines of Washington can produce. Now, under the direction and care of daughter and winemaker Megan Hughes, the Barnard Griffin wines continue to exemplify the fantastic wines growing in the Columbia Valley. Named for the winery’s founder, Rob’s Red Blend is composed of fruit from six different vineyards across the Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley, and Wahluke Slope AVAs. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, the blend sees 16 months aging in French barrique to add a spicy edge.
Attractive black cherry, orange zest and plum flavors on the palate are complemented by juicy acidity and a very full texture. The wine finishes with lingering wood spice and brown sugar notes. Well suited for everyday enjoyment, this wine pairs well with an evening in watching movies or with a backyard barbeque. We love it with bacon wrapped dates, lamb burgers, or a well made steak.
