This is a blend of Syrah, Grenache, Zinfandel, Mourvedre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Coinoise, Muscat, Roussanne, Picpoul and Viognier. The grapevines were planted twenty years ago by John Schaeffer, a natural wine and solar energy pioneer. The image on the label depicts a 17th century inspired lavender labyrinth located on the top of the Demeter-certified property! Fun fact, they treat the vines with herbs, minerals and manure (all from the property) instead of using chemicals. They pick all the ripe fruit in two passes then foot-crush, bottle and as usual, don’t fine, filter or add sulfur. Each grape contributes a unique flavor profile. This wine is like Hi-C fruit punch on acid!!
See the labyrinth on the label? That's a lavender labyrinth at the top of John Schaeffer's vineyard! There's also a 2,500 tree olive orchard and 4 blocks of mostly Rhone red and white varietals planted of volcanic and serpentine soils. If that doesn't already pique your interest then I honestly don't know what will.
