Jean-Michel Deiss was entrusted the gem of Alsace, the Schoenenbourg vineyard, many years ago, soon realizing what made the vineyard so elite; it was planted as a field blend instead of a single varietal. He quickly followed suit replanting his own top vineyards. He has been at the helm of the Domaine since 1981 becoming a leading voice is Alsace biodynamic farming. Today, he and his son are making stunning old-vine magic in Bergheim.
Grasberg is a blend of Alsatian varieties from a single Grand Cru site in Bergheim. The grapes see whole-cluster pressing for 12 hours then fermented and aged in large founders for 1 year. Beautiful and complex with winter orange and citrus peels, perfectly ripe citrus and vibrant acidity.
