Domaine de Piaugier is located in Sablet, in the southern Rhone Valley. Jean-Marc Autran and his wife, Sophie farm 30 hectares of vines in Sablet and Gigondas free of chemical fertilizers or sprays, hand harvested and sorted, and fermented in cement tanks with native yeasts. Minimal fining, filtration, or sulfur additions. They are still using the family cellar built in 1947 by his great-grandfather!
Made from forty to sixty year old vines, this wine has the power of a typical Rhône Valley with complex dark berries and anise, classic hints of white pepper and savory herbs. Excellent terroir and soft ageing produce this luscious and juicy bottle.
