The Cotarella family was especially attracted to the idea of making Merlot in Lazio thanks to the volcanic soils commonly found in this region. Since 2015, when they made their first vintage, the family has worked to hone in on the special qualities of these soils. The winery, born by two brothers hoping to rehabilitate and recover the old vine varieties, was founded in 1960.
Tart fruit and bright cherry aromas. There is some oak spice, but more prominent are the varietal aromas of crushed stone, pencil shaving, dried rose and grilled herb. The mouthfeel shows medium length with bright acidity.
