Founder Mark Ryan McNeilly got his start in restaurants and developed an admiration and love for wine. Purchasing his first grapes in 1999, most of his production for the next handful of years was mostly by himself and in friends' garages. Now, 26 years later, Mark is the 14th largest winery in Washington state with two tasting room, six production labels and is still a real champion for Washington wines. Most of his grapes come off Red Mountain, but he is constantly exploring and discovering around Washington and Oregon.
Check out what we will be tasting below!
2023 Mark Ryan Viognier $45 - A richly citrusy and vibrant white made from fruit in the Yakima Valley, blended to show the zippy, richness of this grape. One of only two white wines with the Mark Ryan label, they really made it count with this refreshing, well balanced bottling.
2022 Mark Ryan Monkey Wrench Red Blend $38 - A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec from Red Mountain AVA and Merlot from Yakima Valley gives that lush and velvety feel with structure and power underneath. Blends are indicative of the Washington wine scene, so this one definitely stands out. Spice and black fruit intermingle with juicy cherry and youthful structure.
2022 Mark Ryan 216 Miles To Go $28 - Newest to the Mark Ryan family, 216 miles is the distance traveled by Mark from Woodinville, Washington to his vineyard sites in Eastern Washington when he first started out. The distance hasn't changed, but the label has, so to commemorate, 216 Miles To Go is an easy-drinking, everyday option. While made primarily from Red Mountain fruit, this Cabernet Sauvignon also includes some Horse Heaven Hills grapes.
2021 Mark Ryan Long Haul $61 - One of Mark's first two labels released in 1999 (Dead Horse was the other), Long Haul is a gorgeous Merlot made from the best vineyard sites on Red Mountain and Yakima Valley. A blend of old and younger vines from two unique climates, in the glass you'll find a rich. supple and fruity wine, with a fresh finish.
2021 Mark Ryan Dead Horse Cabernet Sauvignon $69 - Ciel du Cheval translates to Horse in the Sky or Horse Heaven, and is considered a top growing site for Cabernet Sauvignon, not only in Washington, but also the United States. Along with Long Haul, this was Mark's inaugural release and is not only very age worthy, but also not too tight to open and enjoy this holiday season.
National Sales Manager, Joe Benyak will be on hand to pour and talk through the selections.
