High in the Apennine mountains of the Marche, Bisci is certainly one of the estates where the qualities of Verdicchio di Matelica are most valued. High altitude vineyards with southern exposure gives the grapes character and an extremely fine fragrance.
Their Extra Brut is made in the Metodo Martinotti, later to be known as the Charmat method, whereby the secondary fermentation takes place in autoclave to preserve the wine’s purity and freshness. These verdicchio grapes used in the Extra Brut are picked a week earlier than their typical harvest, and rested for 10 months on the lees. A delicate blend of ginger-spiked yellow apples and wet stones. This is silken, smooth and enveloping despite its stern mineral core and tart orchard fruits.
