The 2019 Fattoria Viticcio Chianti Classico Riserva hails from the Greve subregion of Tuscany, where grapes are grown organically on limestone-rich clay soils. This vintage benefited from a 20-day maceration period to extract deep color and firm structure. To refine its character, the wine underwent a dual aging process, spending 12 months in small French barriques followed by another 12 months in large Slavonian oak casks, a method designed to balance modern fruit intensity with traditional Tuscan earthiness.
The wine presents a deep ruby profile with a baritone depth, leading with aromas of sour cherry, violet, and ripe blackberry. These fruit notes are layered with complex savory undercurrents of tobacco, leather, and graphite. On the palate, it is dense and weighty yet maintains the characteristic acidity of the region, finishing with lingering hints of toasted cocoa and black pepper. Designed for long-term cellaring, the winery suggests this Riserva can continue to evolve through 2043.
