Odd Lot’s approach to winemaking is adventurous and unexpected. Their rich red blends come from the southern region of Monterey County that’s defined by morning fog, strong winds, broad temperature swings and intense sunshine. All of these elements combine to promote the cultivation of bold red varieties like Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The long, warm days allow full-bodied, dark fruit flavors to develop while the dramatic nighttime cooling preserves the balance and structure of these big wines. And while their attitude makes them seem “devil-may-care” the winemakers at Odd Lot are soberly deliberate about sustainability and stewardship of their estate vineyards.
