Tilia winery is deeply invested in sustainability, from their vineyards to their community. Silvina Van Houten is Tilia’s Vineyard Sustainability Specialist. Silvina grew up in a family of immigrants in Mendoza’s countryside where her love and respect for nature began, helping with the family business growing peaches and plums. Silvina thinks of the plants as her children, and most enjoys watching them grow and thrive. She is passionate about using science to find sustainable solutions that support the vines within their natural ecosystem. Tilia’s commitment to the environment extends to the wider biodiversity in and around the vineyards. Over 200 species of native bees pollinate the diverse cover crops between vine rows and the gavilán hawks help keep rodent and insect pests under control. The winery considers these natural helpers to be just as important to the team as the people that make the wines. Everyone works together to help the entire community thrive.
This Malbec is bright and fruit forward. Aromas of violets and rich plum marmalade mingle with chocolate and vanilla oak flavors. The palate is rich with juicy blackberries, cranberries, and black currant followed by notes of vanilla and sweet spice. Well-structured and long with round, silky tannins.
