Caterwaul was born out of the working friendship between Matt Hardin and Thomas Rivers Brown. The two have extensive experience farming, managing vineyards, and making wine in both Napa and Sonoma. After several years building their resumes with wineries across the two regions, the friends decided to embark on their own venture. The fruit for the Sonoma County Cabernet was sourced from the county’s southeast corner, almost touching the Napa County line. Given the unique opportunity to purchase high-quality, old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the shadow of Mount Saint Helena, Matt and Thomas knew they couldn’t pass it up. The combination of skill, passion, and quality fruit results in complex and expressive wine.
Crushed raspberry, dark plum, and black tea lead into a palate with weighty structure and chewy tannins. Flavor notes of dark cherry, sandalwood, blackcurrant, and dried herbs add to the wine’s depth. A surprising brightness at the finish keeps this cabernet expertly balanced.
