Founded in 1830, Champagne Philippe Gonet is located in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The 20 hectares of the family's vineyards are spread out on 35 plots planted in 8 different villages. Their cellar was one of the first dug in Mesnil-sur-Oger in the 1780s, and still in use today! Siblings Chantal and Pierre Gonet are 7th generation family growers in the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil. Winemaker Pierre combines modern winemaking methods and traditional techniques to bring out the best of the minerality and structure of their 20-hectare estate on the Mesnil terroir.
Chardonnay is king in Le Mesnil where chalky limestone soils and saline minerals reign. This cuvee shows a fruity, floral nose and charming notes of autumnal pear and apple fruit. On the palate, it proves to be full-bodied with plenty of finesse. Marrying structure and freshness, this wine develops aromas of fresh butter and brioche. Characterized by its Chardonnay fruit flavor and straightforwardness, it is both a vivacious and generous.
