Bodega de Forlong, founded by Rocío Álvarez and Alejandro Narváez, has become one of Andalucía’s most exciting producers, helping redefine what wines from the Sherry region can look like today. Located near the Atlantic coast in Cádiz, the winery works with organically farmed vineyards planted on albariza soils, the chalky white limestone soils traditionally associated with some of Spain’s greatest fortified wines. The cooling maritime influence plays a major role in preserving freshness and salinity in the grapes, balancing the region’s intense southern Spanish sunshine. Rather than producing fortified wines, Forlong focuses on still wines made with minimal intervention, native yeasts, and a strong respect for terroir.
While the area is most commonly associated with fortified Sherry production, Forlong focuses on still wines that highlight freshness, texture, and salinity. Farming is organic and deeply hands-on, with a strong emphasis on biodiversity and vineyard health. “Petite Forlong” is crafted in a youthful, approachable style, offering a more immediate expression of the winery’s philosophy.
The blend highlights Mediterranean warmth balanced by ocean influence, resulting in a wine that feels vibrant and energetic rather than heavy. Minimal intervention in the cellar preserves the wine’s natural character and lively personality. It’s a modern Andalusian red with both rustic charm and freshness. Juicy red berries, black cherry, and wild herbs with hints of pepper and earth. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity, soft tannins, and a savory finish.
