Poderi Garona “ Fenrose ” Rosé, Colline Novaresi DOC, Piedmont, Italy
If you like the energy of the wines from Mount Etna in Sicily then you have to try this wine! The grapes – 48% Nebbiolo, 48% Vespolina, and 4% Uva Rara, were planted in 1974 at an elevation of nearly 1,600 feet – just below Switzerland in the pre-Alpine range.
The aromatics are vibrant and floral with a touch of herbs, strawberry, and mandarin peel. The flavors lead with tart red fruits, followed by that telltale sign of volcanic salinity and refreshing citrus.
The rareness, 250 cases total production, quality of the soil, along with old-vine grapes, gives you a complex wine that competes with the best Rosésavailable today!
