Founded in 1780 Primitivo Quiles has been a family-owned winery for over 100 years and maintains one of the oldest soleras on the market, dating back to 1892. Here you’ll find pure Monastrell, a grape native to this area and one of Spain’s most distinct. This Monastrell is made in eighty-year-old conofors (think dairy tanks but made of American oak). Filtered by gravity and, following tradition, made in a slightly oxidative style which gives the wine its very unique character.
Dark, bruised raspberries and dried figs with coarse black pepper. It’s earthy and complex with prune and maple-balsamic notes from the oxidative style. This is the bottle meant for the big meal, any kind of bold meat dishes or even Mediterranean cuisine.
