Didier Dagueneau, the much-beloved wild man of the Pouilly-Fumé, created the most in-demand Sauvignon Blanc of the Loire Valley. He was among the first of the region to make single parcel wine from own-rooted vines worked by horse. His winery, comprising 12 hectares (30 acres) of vineyards is located in the town of Saint-Andelain, in Pouilly Fumé. The estate is known for extremely low yields, hand harvested over multiple passes sought to make "the best Sauvignon blanc in the world". Unusual for both the appellation and grape variety, these wines are meant for cellaring and some had a clear influence of oak
Pur Sang (French for "pureblood"), this single vineyard wine encapsulates a powerhouse vintage that displays meyer lemon notes against a chalky mineral backdrop. A structure that balances creamy texture with refreshing acidity may seem like a juxtaposition, but trust us that it works perfectly when paired with meaty shellfish!
