The Protea lines of wines are all about sustainability. The fruit for this line comes from different vineyards across the Western Cape, all hand-harvested. From the art printed directly onto the bottles that represents the biodiversity of the region, to the innovative Amorim Helix cork (a resealable, twist-to-open, and ergonomically designed stopper made from cork agglomerate), Protea is endeavoring to extend the life of each wine past the vineyard.
The nose of this wine is reminiscent of black forest cake, with notes of black cherry, rich chocolate, and a hint of graphite. On the palate you find ripe flavors of plum, cherry, cocoa powder, and spice, with a subtle touch of tomato character. Light-bodied yet structured with a good frame of tannin, this is a very approachable and friendly Cabernet.
