Also known as Mourvèdre, Mataro is a thick-skinned grape, and can make some big, bold, full-bodied reds. Matthiasson's take on the varietal is lighter, fresher, juicy and oh-so-drinkable. Full of dark berry flavors, this wine is like taking a walk through a wild berry patch. A nice line of acidity helps keep it in balance, and there is no over-extraction going on here. For best results, serve with a slight chill.
