Kiona Vineyards and Winery is a pioneering, family-owned operation that played a foundational role in establishing Washington State's Red Mountain AVA. Founded in 1975 by John and Ann Williams along with Jim and Pat Holmes, the estate began as a 10-acre "Old Block" in a then-desolate desert region. Today, the third generation of the Williams family—brothers JJ and Tyler—manages more than 272 acres across five distinct estate sites: Kiona Estate, Heart of the Hill, Ranch at the End of the Road, Sunset Bench, and Artz Vineyard.
Chenin Blanc grows exceptionally well in the Columbia Valley, where big temperature swings and ample sunlight ensure nice ripening and vibrant acidity. Strong demand and limited old-vine acreage keep Chenin Blanc in the hands of only a few top-notch producers, Kiona Vineyards and Winery included. Bright, crisp, fruit-forward characteristic and immense food-pairability.
