Founded by husband-and-wife duo John House and Ksenija Kostic in 2011. After years of learning the intricacies of the Willamette Valley while working together at Chehalem, John and Ksenija set off to further investigate the myriad terroirs of Oregon.
Planted in the early 70’s and tucked into the Eastern portion of the Columbia Gorge, this pioneering vineyard is studded with gnarly, frost bitten Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Steep and east facing, the vines collect hot, morning sun while being protected from the extremes of long Oregon summer days. Pinot Noir and Syrah intermingle throughout the own-rooted site, and consequently are co-fermented with the Cabernet to yield an old vine red that is a true reflection of it’s time and place.
Aged 11 months in neutral French oak. Ruby color that saturates into deep red. Intensely aromatic with ripe cherry dusted with charred thyme, blueberry and sage. Dried herbal notes lead to medium bodied palate, filled with fruit and a noticeable grip on the finish.
