Sunspell is a lively, lighter-style Cabernet Sauvignon developed by the founders of Legend (one of our favorite importers), Jane Lopes and Jonathan Ross. During their travels through Australia, Jane and Jon experienced firsthand the wide array of wine that much of the world has yet to see. Unlike much of what is typically exported from the continent, Jane and Jon discovered wines made with respect for both the environment and for the community and a rich sense of fun and lightness. Produced in collaboration with two different winemakers and using fruit from across the Barossa Valley, Coonawarra, and Riverland regions, Sunspell is a celebration of all the things Legend loves about Australia: sun-drenched beaches, and fun-loving people, fair labor, sensible farming, and delicious wine.
Aromas of juicy, bright red and black fruits mingle with some savory notes of green pepper, mint, and forest fern. The palate is plush with round dark fruits, blackberry and currant, and balanced by black pepper and graphite. Unoaked, this wine has smooth and supple tannins that provide a soft finish.
