The Cotarella family was especially attracted to the idea of making Merlot in Lazio thanks to the volcanic soils commonly found in this region. Since 2015, when they made their first vintage, the family has worked to hone in on the special qualities of these soils. The winery, born by two brothers hoping to rehabilitate and recover the old vine varieties, was founded in 1960.
The nose is like a cheese plate with warm Brie accompanied by honey, nuts and a slice of lemon. The lush palate amplifies those aromas, with citrus carrying the day and salty, stony undertones. Acidity carries through a substantial finish.
