Cassis Liqueur, or Crème de Cassis, is a traditional French liqueur made from black currents, typically from Burgundy. This drink pours dark purple and a bit viscous with a rich, sweet-tart black current flavor. If you enjoy a super ripe summer blackberry, you’ll love this. C. Cassis is making a modern version of this classic liqueur that focuses on a fresher, “fresh from the vine” flavor. The fruit flavor comes off a bit more vibrant, not quite as sweet, and has a little bit of stemmy spice. We think it’s a great addition to the classic Kir Royale. Just combine a little bit of C. Cassis with a dry sparkling white wine (like sparkling Aligoté!) and you’re done!
