Dario Serrentino is the driving force behind il Mortellito, a small family-run estate in Val di Noto in the far south-eastern corner of Sicily. For years Dario sold off his grapes to Sicilian natural wine players like Frank Cornelissen and Lamoresca, and only just started to vinify his own grapes in 2014. Its vineyards are a few kilometers from the coast, with grooves of ancient olive and almonds trees breaking the wind off the sea. Abandoned and still working fishing ports dot the landscape. Serrentino has always enjoyed the contrasts of this coastal growing area, which he calls ‘a desert next to the beach.’ 

Medium bodied, ripe with salty citrus, grilled nuts, pineapple, basil and sunshine. Drink this when you would rather be on a beach, and do not pass up a chance to pair with a raw fish crudo drizzled with their Mortellito olive oil!
