Gerard Bertrand is a 4th generation winemaker in Southern France, committed to biodynamic production and has been slowly converting all their estate and managed vineyards since 2002. The brand now manages 17 areas, 10 of which are estate, making over 930 hectares of biodynamic vines. His daughter, Emma, is working closely alongside Gerard, training and bringing her own ideas to the table.
Made from Cabernet Sauvignon along with Merlot, Malbec and splash of Marselan. Castellum was the term used to refer to the central castle in Languedoc in the Middle Ages, giving an historic nod to the sandy slopes the vineyards grow on, facing the village. The grapes are hand picked, destemmed and sorted, going through malolactic fermentation before aging twelve months in oak. Crunchy black fruits, stellar structure and tannin make this age worthy while also being plush enough to enjoy now.
